“This is my commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you.”
Love one another
Jesus commanded His disciples to love each other. Each of the disciples were from a different background, and they all had different ways of thinking. Jesus knew that, and He taught them to accept and love each other. We interact with our family, neighbors, colleagues and church members every day. There are those who we have a hard time learning to love. How can we love those people?
As Jesus has loved
Jesus gave up His life for His disciples. Not only the disciples, but He gave His life for His enemies. Jesus is asking us to love in the same way. We can love others within our comfort zone, but to love as Jesus has loved is to love others even if it is not convenient for us. This is not something easy to do. We can start by first praying for someone we don’t like!
