Good works are important, right?
We all agree that doing good things for others and being kind are “good”.
In Japanese culture, doing “good works(善い行い)”, or morally good works, are important. Even if you hate the other person, we are taught to do good.
Ofcourse it is good to do “good works”. However, in the Bible, God sees something else as being more important.
Meaningless without love
Let’s look at 1 Corinthians 13:1-3. No matter what great thing you may do, if we don’t have “love” in our hearts, it’s meaningless. So what is this “love”?
The characteristics of “love” is seen in verses 4 – 8. This love is something that we don’t have naturally, and we need God to teach us. Let’s take little steps to read the Bible, learn, and apply this love in our lives!
