“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, … and be thankful.”
Be ruled by peace of Christ
To “be ruled” does not sound very appealing to many people. It sounds like being “taken over” or “taken prisoner”, and feels like we are going to lose our freedom. If an evil king rules, its people suffer, but if a good king rules, its people flourish. Jesus is called the “prince of peace”, and if we allow Jesus to be the king in our heart, His peace flows in our heart.
Being “thankful” is a shortcut to being “content” and “happy”. Many bad things could happen in our day, but we can make it a habit to look at the good things that happened. To accept Jesus into our heart, and to be thankful in everything is the ultimate goal. Let’s start by thinking of one good thing that happened today, and be thankful for it!
